Starting with Chessity is really simple. Chessity is designed in such a way that children can autonomously learn how to play chess. No prior instruction is needed before they start using the program. Because it contains game elements, children quickly understand how things work.
Step 1: Create a player profile
Every child needs their own player profile
- Log in to Chessity and click on 'Create your first profile'
- Choose a username and fill in your child's first name
- Click on 'Create account'
(demo images below are in Dutch)
Step 2: Start learning and playing
Click the button 'Play' on your child's profile
Choose Learning
Click on lesson 1, The rook, and then on Start
- Read/watch the explanation or click on Play now
Read/watch the explanation or click on Play now
You now start with your first lesson. The little robot Chessto helps with (spoken) instruction and tips. So make sure your device's sound is on.
Have fun !

In your family start screen, click on the 'Manage accounts' button
(demo images below are in Dutch)
To prevent children from changing settings without the consent of their parent(s), you must now first enter a verification code. You will receive this by e-mail.
Fill in the verification code in this screen and click OK
You will now access the Manage Students tool. Here is a list of the profiles with the corresponding settings.
The available profile settings are based on our many years of experience with Chessity in primary education. They allow you to set up an optimal and safe learning and playing environment for your child.
For detailed information on the settings, read: Where can I manage the settings of my students' accounts?
Yes of course, the more the merrier! Up to five people can share one family account. You decide who they are; friends, neighbours or grandparents welcome to participate.
If your own family account has no more profiles left, then suggest your friend or their parents to create their own family account for free. The children can then learn and compare their results, play games against each other in the Arena, participate in the same tournaments and both families can compete against each other in the weekly family competition!
Yes, that is possible.
With your family account you can add an account as a profile via the student management tool.

Is it possible to convert an existing account into a student account?
Your free family account gives you unlimited access to all of Chessity's premium features for three weeks. After three weeks, you'll continue to have access to Chessity and all results will be saved, but the premium features (e.g. unlimited learning, printing diplomas, unlimited entry to tournaments) will be locked. You can continue at any time by choosing a premium subscription.
So you don't have to cancel your account yourself.
On expiration of the chosen period, your subscription will be automatically renewed for the same duration, unless you cancel in advance. After expiration your Premium account will be converted into a freemium account.

If my subscription ends, will I lose all my results
Once your plan expires, your account will downgrade automatically to a freemium Chessity account, and you will lose access to premium features and have limited use of Chessity. Don't worry, you can reactivate your Chessity Premium subscription whenever you'd like.
For indiviual users:
If you're creating a new account and you receive an error message stating that the email address you entered is already in use, this means an account is already set up with the same email address. That means you have previously signed up for a Chessity account using this email address.
If you don't recall the username and password you created when you signed up, you can retrieve your login credentials through the Forgot username? and Forgot password? links on our login page.
For coaches:
If you’re creating a new student account and you receive the message that the email address you entered is already in use, this means that an account is already set up with the same address.
This can be:
- a free or premium account that your student has created before
- an account of another family member who uses the same email address (parent, sibling)
Choose your workaround:
There are several ways to work around the problem of email addresses that are already registered. It depends on your situation which option best suits your needs:
- Delete the existing account and create a new student account with the preferred email address. All user data will be deleted and cannot be recovered.
- Change the email address in the existing account. You can now use the preferred email address for the new student account.
- Create a student account without entering an email address. Email addresses are optional for student accounts. This option comes in handy with siblings.
- Transfer the existing account to your student management system. Your student can continue using his/her account and you have full coach rights.
To change your email address, click My account (top right menu) and scroll down to your Account information. Enter the new email address and click Save.
For individual users: on the log-in screen, click on Forgot your username or password?
Enter your e-mail address and click on Reset password. You will receive an e-mail with your username and instructions on how to reset your password.
For users with a student account: ask your coach to reset your password in the tool Manage student accounts.
